"Let’s go to the Llano" is a familiar cry heard on hot summer days across Central Texas. For many people, that means floating the river starting at South Llano River State Park, which is located about 5.5 miles south of Junction, Texas. This park, which is also located within 150 miles of Austin and San Antonio, is a great place to go paddling with your canoe or kayak. Other popular activities along the Llano River include fishing for bass and catfish and hiking the local trails. Be prepared for warmer weather during the summer months and temperatures dropping into the 30s in the winter, but otherwise, the weather is relatively mild.
