Home to some sixty thousand people, New Braunfels is located on the shores of the Guadalupe River in central Texas. It’s not a big city, and you may not have ever even heard of it, but that’s part of what makes RV travel so much fun! It’s you, the open road, and an opportunity to strike off in any direction and explore the unknown. A relatively warm area, you’ll find temperatures dipping into the upper thirties only two months out of the year (December and January), but watch out for that summer heat! Temperatures can climb well above a hundred degrees during the months May through September. Needless to say, you can probably leave your Parka at home, no matter what time of year you visit in your RV rental New Braunfels TX!
This isn’t an all-day event, but it’s quirky, interesting, fun and entertaining. Join a 90-minute walking tour through some of the more haunted portions of New Braunfels, and get the inside scoop on some of the town’s “hidden history.” It’s an hour and a half well spent, and you’ll still have plenty of time to explore the rest of the city afterwards.
This shouldn’t be described so much as a park as a “Water Resort.” It’s stunningly beautiful, and makes for a fantastic day trip that your kids and grand kids will love. Lots to see and do here, including, of course, all sorts of water-based activities. Bring your camera, and not just to catch your kids in action, but also because the grounds are beautiful. Plan to spend a fun-filled day here. It’s a great way to beat the heat, so get here in one of the many motorhome rentals New Braunfels Texas!
This part of Texas has a lot of hot days. You can beat the heat by enjoying a tubing trip down the Guadalupe. There are a number of outfitters and adventure companies that sell trips, or if you’re feeling even more adventurous, simply go solo. It’s more fun in a group though, and there are few better ways to cool off.
There are a number of campgrounds in the area to choose from. Here are just a few for your consideration when you RV rent New Braunfels Texas:
With rates ranging from $35 to $42 a night, this one won’t put too big a dent in your budget. It’s a pet friendly site, with all the basic amenities and river access. The showers are hot and the restrooms are clean, but two things to note: 1) no major cable TV service available, and 2) no WiFi. If you rely on the latter, this one probably isn’t for you. If it doesn’t matter either way, then it’s a good value for the money. Note – this one does NOT have full hookups. Water and electric but no sewer for your camper rental New Braunfels.
A bit more expensive than the one mentioned above, a site here will run you $60 a night. They do have big rig and pull through sites available though, and as before, riverfront and water access. It’s not a pet friendly place, but you DO gain free WiFi. If you’re not traveling with Fido, and you like having internet access, this one would be tough to beat with a motorhome rental New Braunfels Texas.
With prices around $44 a night, this one is probably the best value overall. The only thing you’re giving up here is waterfront access, but it’s got a full slate of amenities, free, fast WiFi, and is pet friendly. Instead of waterfront access, the park offers a pool, which is a pretty fair trade for most folks in their camper rental New Braunfels TX. You’ll also find major cable TV service here, if you want it.
Here’s a sampling of some of the annual events particular to the area:
As the title suggests, this is a four-day celebration of music and wine, scheduled for the first week in October, each year. Unlike many music festivals, this one isn’t exactly kid-friendly. It’s not kid-unfriendly, but the theme and bent of the festival is simply geared toward the grownups. Bear that in mind, and come ready to have a great time.
Beginning on the Friday before the first Monday in November and running for ten glorious days, this is a huge celebration centered around…you guessed it, sausage. Come hungry and plan to stay for ten days, although by the end, you may need someone to take you back to your RV in a wheelbarrow. Delicious food and plenty of beer to wash it down with. Good times.
Now entering its second year, this is a beer crawl featuring a number of pubs and bars in the downtown district. It’s a fun evening and for a good cause, to boot! Money raised here goes to support Alzheimer’s research. If you’re in the area the second weekend in April, give this a look!
New Braunfels is an interesting, unusual, off-the-beaten path place. They love the water and they love their sausages. Lots to see and do here, and more than enough to keep you coming back time and time again in an RV rental New Braunfels Texas!
