Touted as “The World’s Biggest Outdoor Music Festival”, Milwaukee’s Summerfest certainly is a large event, attracting over 800,000 visitors each year. Here you’ll find a wide variety of local and celebrity music artists, as well as plenty of food from delicious area restaurants. Other attractions include vendors for those who enjoy shopping, comedy acts, fireworks displays, and much more.
Summerfest likes to keep guests comfortable. Therefore, they offer a variety of amenities.
For instance, there are stroller and wheelchair rentals available for anyone who may need one, and first aid stations are scattered throughout the grounds. A children’s area and nursing station are available for families who need a break from the hustle and bustle.
There is also an option to check items in at the information booths for a fee, should you decide you no longer want to lug everything around.
Summerfest is held at Henry Maier Festival Park. This 75-acre park is located along the lakefront in Milwaukee, WI and is perfect for the event.
With 12 stages featuring over 800 acts, you can rest easy knowing you’ll find plenty of performances to enjoy at Summerfest.
Some of this year’s American Family Insurance Amphitheater music artists include:
These are all fabulous acts, of course, but also keep in mind there are literally hundreds of other performers coming to make music at this fantastic event, sweetening the pot even more.
Staying in an RV just seems like the natural thing to do when attending a music festival. After all, who wouldn’t want to have an entire tiny home-on-wheels with them after a long day at a festival?
Now, while Summerfest does not have spaces for RVs to park on their grounds, there is RV parking nearby at Wisconsin State Fair Park. By reserving a site at this park, you can grab a rental from RVShare and have a super comfortable trip!
Of course, you will need a place to stay while visiting Milwaukee for Summerfest. Luckily, there are plenty of options:
Considering that the festival is located in Milwaukee, there are plenty of hotels around to choose from. Summerfest has partnered with the following hotels to get visitors some awesome rates:
Of course, there is also the option of renting an Airbnb. This is a great choice for those with a large group who wish to have an entire home to themselves.
Driving to the festival is always an option. That said, traffic is likely to be heavy, so be sure to allow extra travel time. If you do choose to drive, several good route options can be found here.
Another option is to use the Milwaukee County Transit System. A Freeway Flyer will get you to the gates, as well as a Downtown Shuttle. Just be sure to purchase a MCTS M•CARD in advance to make sure everything goes smoothly.
Biking to the festival is a great way to get in some exercise if you’re coming from nearby. Milwaukee’s Bublr bike share system offers convenient bike rentals, with stations throughout downtown Milwaukee (including Summerfest grounds).
Other options include an Uber, a taxi, or a shuttle. There are several shuttle options available, all of which can be viewed on the Summerfest website.
Parking is on a first-come, first-serve basis and the available lots do tend to fill up quickly. All lots open at 9am daily.
There are two parking options:
Prepaid parking permits can be purchased online. Accessible parking spaces are available in Lot H.
Motorcycle and bicycle parking are both available for free, and as mentioned before, there are Bublr rental stations on the grounds as well.
General admission and multi-day passes allow entry to Summerfest any day of the week. Multi-day tickets are a better deal if you plan to visit on more than one occasion. Weekday admission tickets only allow weekday admission. Note: Neither of these options allows access to American Family Insurance Amphitheater concerts. Both options are available at the Summerfest Store or at the Summerfest Box Office.
Those who want to see an American Family Insurance Amphitheater concert will need to purchase a ticket especially for that event. That said, these concert tickets do allow the user entry to the rest of Summerfest for the day of the concert. These tickets can be purchased at Ticketmaster.com or at the Summerfest Box Office.
