Phoenix Fan Fusion is an annual festival dedicated to speculative fiction and entertainment, including cartoons, books and films. It started in 2002 as the Phoenix Cactus Comicon and lasted for just six hours. Less than 500 people attended that first year with tickets they purchased for $3. It later grew to include two days and now offers three days of fun and excitement. This is your chance to meet the illustrators and writers behind your favorite comic books and stop by panels and workshops as you enter contests and competitions. It is held at the Phoenix Convention Center, and Phoenix Fan Fusion features tons of guests and planned activities.
There is more to do at Phoenix Fan Fusion than meeting celebrities and watching the cosplayers. The exhibition hall opens at 3 p.m. on Thursday and closes at 8 p.m. It is also open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. The exhibition hall will feature booths where you can pick out comics and related merchandise.
Special events and programs will run from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Thursday and from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. A few special events will run on Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Those events include screenings of popular films and shows and sessions where authors, actors and others will talk and answer questions from the crowd. Most of the programs do not require an extra ticket, but some are adult programs that are only open to those 18 and older. There will also be workshops that address issues such as how to find work in the entertainment industry and how to draw comic books.
To help guests find everything they need, Phoenix Fan Fusion works with the Phoenix Convention Center to offer amenities for guests. This includes ATMs for withdrawing some last-minute cash, clean restrooms and Wi-Fi.
Phoenix Fan Fusion will take place at the Phoenix Convention Center at:
100 N. 3rd St.
Phoenix, AZ 85004
Visitors flock to Phoenix Fan Fusion for the famous faces who attend. Christopher Daniel Barnes, a voice actor who had roles in “Spider-Man: The Animated Series” and “The Little Mermaid,” will be there all three days. When you follow that link and click on any of the names, you can see how much they charge for autographs and photos. If you miss getting an autograph, you can purchase one from the website after the convention.

Thanks to RVshare, finding and booking an RV rental for your trip to Phoenix Fan Fusion is a breeze. Not only can you search for a rental for the weekend or the whole week, but you can look for rentals based on how much you want to spend or how many people are in your group. Instead of cramming your whole group into a cramped hotel room, you can stay in an RV with more space. When you rent from RVshare, you can find owners who will meet you at the airport with an RV when you fly into town and those who will deliver the rental to the campground or park that you choose. You can make arrangements to have them pick up the RV when you leave too.
Phoenix Fan Fusion works with several hotels to get discounted rates for guests of the convention, so you have plenty of lodging choices if you aren’t camping in an RV at one of the above-mentioned campgrounds. You can view all the top hotels online and see how much they charge for parking and the nightly rate. One popular choice is the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown, which offers single and double rooms for $138 a night and triple and quad rooms for $148 per night. When you split the cost with your group, you can save even more. This hotel also charges $25 per night for self-parking and $35 for valet parking but provides free Wi-Fi. Most of the hotels in downtown Phoenix offer similar rates for Fan Fusion guests, including the:
• Hyatt Regency Phoenix
• Hilton Garden Inn
• Embassy Suites Phoenix Downtown North
• Radisson Hotel Phoenix Airport
You can take the Valley Metro Rail from almost anywhere in the city to get to Phoenix Fan Fusion. It costs $4 for a one-day pass and $2 per ride. There are two entrances from the light rail that will help you get to the convention on Washington and 3rd Street and Jefferson and 3rd Street.
The Phoenix Convention Center is conveniently located in the heart of the downtown area. Many of the streets are one-way only, which can be confusing for out-of-town guests. The best way to get there is via light rail. If you come by car, you'll want to take Washington Street and turn right on 3rd Street, which will take you directly to the convention center. You can also travel north on Central Avenue and turn right on Washington Street. The parking garages are on the north and south sides of the convention center near the intersections of Washington Street and Monroe Street.
You can park in any of the lots around downtown Phoenix or reserve a parking spot in advance. While spots are usually available for $12 per day, the cost often rises during special events. When you reserve a spot online, you pay as little as $20 per day and receive a guaranteed spot near the convention center. Both the North Phoenix Garage and the East Phoenix Garage will remain open until the convention ends. You can also reserve a spot in the Jefferson Street Garage online and receive a 25 percent discount. There are more than 4,000 spots available in the covered parking garage. You should keep in mind that you cannot leave during the day and return to your spot. None of these garages offer in-and-out access. Bicycle and motorcycle parking are available too.
You cannot attend Phoenix Fan Fusion without purchasing a membership first. Memberships are available online and will remain available until the first day of the convention or tickets sell out. Tickets are available for single days for between $30 and $45. You can also get a four-day ticket that lets you enter all the events for $75. Until the end of April, the convention will offer VIP memberships for $295.
Children 2 and under can enter for free if they're accompanied by an adult who is 18 or older and has a pass. When you purchase your membership online, you can register up to two kids at the same time. Find out more about Phoenix Fan Fusion and the benefits of buying tickets early.
