George Washington's Mount Vernon

It has drawn in millions of people since it was opened in 1860. It is located along the banks of Potomac River and covers an area of 500 acres. Jamestown Settlement

A living history museum, Jamestown Settlement will take you back to that period of time when Jamestown was a thriving community and the country’s first permanent English colony. Located near the site of the original colony, Jamestown Settlement features a visitor center where you are treated with a 25-minute film to start your visit, a re-created fort and three replica ships, several galleries with exhibits that document the history of the settlement since the 1600s, and a re-created Powhatan Indian Village. Costumed historical interpreters are present to describe and demonstrate the life in the settlement during the 17 century. You can dine in at Jamestown Settlement Café and shop for souvenirs and gift items at the museum store. Jamestown Settlement is open daily.

Kings Dominion

Aside from being a place of numerous historical sites, Northern Virginia prides itself with one of the best Theme Parks in the East Coast, the Kings Dominion located 20 miles North of Richmond.
